“Pete Charrette, Physical Education Specialist”

I began my teaching career in a small rural town, Palmerton, PA in 1980.  I taught Health and Physical Education for Grades 9-12 at Palmerton Area High School.  I also coached Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball, and Track & Field.

In 2018, my 1983 Field Hockey Team was inducted into the Palmerton Area High School Sports Hall of Fame for being the best in school history. I was also inducted into the Palmerton Area High School Sports Hall of Fame as a Field Hockey Coach having the most wins of any coach at the school and also as a Softball Coach having coached the most games at the school at that time.

One of the most rewarding honors came in May 2018 as I was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

My husband and I moved to Vermont in 2005.  I then had the challenging task of searching for a teaching position in Vermont.  I was elated to find one so close to home at the Isle La Motte Elementary School.  It was a big change going from High School to Elementary Physical Education, but I was up for the challenge and now I am delighted to be the Physical Education Teacher at North Hero School.

I will work each day to maintain a Physical Education program at the North Hero School of excellence focusing on developing and improving students’ personal fitness and motor skills by providing developmentally appropriate activities through purposeful, creative, and enjoyable instruction which will be aligned with the SHAPE America's National Physical Education Standards.

By incorporating challenging yet achievable tasks, the students will attain positive attitudes about physical activity, movement, and the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity. I look forward to providing your child with an exciting and rewarding physical education program.

Please help to make sure your child has sneakers that can be securely fastened on the days they have Physical Education class.  Crocs, dress shoes, hiking boots, and sandals are a few examples that make it difficult for your child to safely participate in Physical Education class.  It is advised to bring a pair of sneakers to school (indoor shoes) everyday.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your support.

Stay Well.
