HEALTH WITH MS. PELKEY

WELCOME LETTER

Hello families! My name is Hannah Pelkey. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Spanish from UVM and a masters degree in STEAM Education from the University of San Diego. My goal as an educator is to teach kids how to learn, instill a love of learning, and create life-long learners who are curious, creative, courageous, and capable.

This is my 6th year at North Hero School. While many of you knew me as the kindergarten teacher for 4 years or as the remote teacher last year, I am now the academic interventionist and the health teacher. Health is a new class for grades K-6. We will be covering nutrition, fitness & wellness, and personal safety. Underlying themes throughout the year will include growth mindset, refusal skills, and advocacy skills.

You may hear from me in other capacities as well. I am heading the Educational Support Team (EST) and, along with Meg Walker, I am a PBIS Coordinator. PBIS refers to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at hpelkey@gisu.org.
